Jack Offer: The Clock Is Ticking

July 14th, 2009 | by SL |

The Indiana Pacers are officially on the clock with seven days to match the Raps’ offer on RFA Jarrett Jack.  According to just about everyone, Jack included, all things point towards Chris Bosh’s college teammate joining the Raptors.

The offer sheet extended to Jack was made possible after the complicated sign-and-trade deal involving Hedo Turkoglu and Shawn Marion was consummated last week, which of course allowed Bryan Colangelo to retain the team’s mid-level exception.

By most accounts, Jack is seen as a good gamble.  Although he had more success as a point guard last season (he eventually took over the starting gig from T.J. Ford), Jack will likely be asked to play significant minutes at the two.  He’ll also serve as Jose Calderon’s back-up, but we should keep in mind Jose’s struggles with durability last season.
