Raps Play First Card On Pops Mensah-Bonsu
June 29th, 2009 | by SL |
As reported by TSN.ca, the Toronto Raptors have extended a qualifying offer to Pops Mensah-Bonsu.
Mensah-Bonsu (or more affectionately, just Pops), was one of the few Raptors putting a full effort on the floor every night during those awful last 20 games. Pops’ constant hustle and athleticism made him modestly popular among fans during a time when we were all hitting rock-bottom on a lost season.
He will be eligible to sign an offer sheet with any other team, although this corner thinks it’s unlikely there will be a pouring of interest outside of Toronto. It’s cool, I mean we all want him back right? The arrival of Reggie Evans knocks Pops down a step on the depth chart, but he’ll probably be most entertaining in garbage time anyway.
