Raptors Take First Step To Bring Delfino Back, Reggie Evans Meets Media
June 16th, 2009 | by SL |
If all goes as planned by Bryan Colangelo then the Toronto Raptors should be a lot better looking in 2009-10. Guard/forward Carlos Delfino has reentered the Raptors’ plans as the team extended the free agent a qualifying offer today. Delfino left the Raptors following the 2008 NBA Playoffs and spent last season in Russia with BC Khimky Moscow in the Russia-A Superleague.
There was no shortage of rumours and rumblings around the blogosphere over the last 16 months as to why Delfino chose to walk away from Toronto in the first place. Many pointed the finger at Sam Mitchell’s lack of focus and vision as a head coach for the separation and several sources reported that Delfino was interested in returning to Toronto following Jay Triano’s promotion to head coach.
Regardless, if Delfino chooses to sign with Toronto he’ll bring more toughness and perimeter defense to a team in desperate need of both. His stunning good looks and chiseled jaw-line aren’t bad either, it’s ok to man-crush on the Argentinian heartthrob… he is that good looking.
Evans Meets The Media
Speaking of the Raptors getting tougher, Reggie Evans was officially welcomed to Toronto today. He’s the early front-runner to replace some of leadership that left town with Charles Oakley and never returned. Evans should at least up the intensity both on the court and in the locker room. From TSN.ca:
“If I feel like something isn’t right, if somebody’s not bringing it hard to the game or hard in practice, I’m going to speak my mind,” he said. “The only way we’re going to get better, we have to work hard so if you want to relax, go sit down or just go home. That’s just me, I’m a competitor.”
Good riddance Kapono.
